In Camera Evaluation

In my in camera editing unit, my topic i had to record about was "posting a letter" even though it was a easy topic and could of easily been done it still took thought to put into it so it doesnt turn out basic and can have some creativity in it. We chose to add a twist to it as one of the characters had receieved a letter from a random person when they open it, it had a threatening note saying "if you dont post this in 5minutes your wife will die" he then freaked out and ran to post the letter but instead put it in a dog pin by accident instead. We chose to film this in a canteen when he gets the letter than in the park.
I think the good points about our video was that we managed to get the shots done in one and didnt have to redo them, we used different camera angles and different locations with a clear storyline.
I think it could of been improved by having more shot reverse shots and more creative shots to make it more interesting to watch.

Introduction To Editing

Editing is a process of cutting different shots and putting them together.

Elliptical editing fills up gaps and carry's on the story by being able to show something but still understand what they was doing before, eg. waking up.

Long shots are used to show the setting they are in and who else is with them, its a good way of showing a clear view and lets the audience understand whats going on in the shot eg. when we see the girl alone in "The Gloaming".

Non-diagetic sound is music on top of sounds in the background of the scene but the actors cant hear the music only the audience.

A reverse shot shows the audience the character doing the same action but from a different or opposite side of them, eg. seeing the back of them then the front.

In "The Gloaming" you can see she bends down to pick up the ring as 2 shots are used to show she bent down to pick up the ring then when she got back up she had it with her so they cut shots to make the scene go quicker

Directors sets out the characters in action and sets up the space to know they're together and talking as a group
