Introduction To Editing

Editing is a process of cutting different shots and putting them together.

Elliptical editing fills up gaps and carry's on the story by being able to show something but still understand what they was doing before, eg. waking up.

Long shots are used to show the setting they are in and who else is with them, its a good way of showing a clear view and lets the audience understand whats going on in the shot eg. when we see the girl alone in "The Gloaming".

Non-diagetic sound is music on top of sounds in the background of the scene but the actors cant hear the music only the audience.

A reverse shot shows the audience the character doing the same action but from a different or opposite side of them, eg. seeing the back of them then the front.

In "The Gloaming" you can see she bends down to pick up the ring as 2 shots are used to show she bent down to pick up the ring then when she got back up she had it with her so they cut shots to make the scene go quicker

Directors sets out the characters in action and sets up the space to know they're together and talking as a group
