Mood Board & Mind Map

The idea i have for my mood board is Night market, so as this is a very busy and festive period of the year many attractions and events will be on around London. One of the scenes i will be capturing is winter wonderland and the aspects of it such as food and attractions. The second place i will be visiting is West end/South bank as of the christmas lights and food markets, as well as the London eye and scenery of the river Thames/bridges. This feature can be used in timeout magazine, London newspapers, TNT.

Framing

I found this technique quite easy and unique as it showed what the main detail and the audience would be focusing on by taking a picture of the object surrounded by a frame such as the handle bars, window. As this has something to frame the main focus its more effective and by focusing the camera it can blur out the outside edges and gives a good effect. The 3 grid rule is a useful technique, this is that an image should be imagined as divided into nine parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections, this shows the importance of the object and not just taking a picture where it would be simple centering. Both techniques make the pictures a lot more interesting and real life.

Frozen Motion

For this task we done fast shutter, this was by capturing still images of a moment we might not recognise when we see it in real life and letting the images show more detail for example dripping water, this was an effective way of capturing something which will be seen more clearly and makes it interesting as it makes it look unique and points out something you wouldnt see so clearly in real life. The disadvantage of this was trying to get it in the right timing as the drops will move quickly it can take some time to get the perfect picture or the effect.

Light Orbs

This was a fun task as not only could we play around with the lights and think of ideas to make different effects/images the outcome would be interesting to see. By using a piece of string and attaching a small torch at the end we had to position ourself and make a mark on the floor, using the camera to film we would walk around the mark in a circle while spinning the torch continuously until we had walked back to our original spot and it would make a 3d ball effect.
