Phone hacking scandal
Dear Mr Hughes,
I am writing to express my concerns about the prospect of Rupert Murdoch owning all of BSkyB.
Someone like Murdoch already has too much power in the media, owning The Sun, The Times, Sunday Times, Sun on Sunday as well as 39.1% of BSkyB. He is already one of Britain’s largest media owners – does he really need to own more?
This gives him far too much power over our news, as he starting owning more of what controls the media it can play with peoples mind and start making people feel they should take his side or believe him over anyone else who goes against him. He would feel in control and capable off taking over even more after he owns the whole of sky to buy and take over more channels/newspapers.
Ofcom have now requested documents regarding the phone hacking scandal to help them make their decision whether the news group are fit enough to hold a broadcase license, as well as owning the other 61% of BSkyB. With the commons media comitee concluding that Mr Murdoch is not capable of running a major international business with 4 out of 10 members disagreed it’s uneven vote.
Recent reports have revealed that Media Secretary Jeremy Hunt has been working with the Murdochs, this not only means these people have yet got involved into the situation but have shown he's been hiding things from the media.
This is a serious case as it has revealed peoples personal lives without their permission and he again for sure can do something dodgy again.
Thankyou
Karina Ivanova
